                         BACK BONE OF DEMOCRACY

One of the fundamental and basic foundations of a democracy, which define its true essence and character, are the elections. What are elections? It refers to the formal and systematized way of voting through which one can choose his representative or one can hold any political position.

Elections, the long standing backbone of a democracy, are what give the power in the hands of the masses, to the people of the country, to choose and anoint a group of people who play the role of the main decision makers of the country. There are few things in the field of modern politics, which are as empowering and enabling as elections.

India, the largest democracy in the world, is a classic and a perfect Example of the beautiful application of free and fair election system. India is one of the few countries in the world, where elections come to play right from the grass root level; be it the Panchayati Raj elections, university level elections, or the giant in the field of politics, the national Lok Sabha elections. Our country witnesses democracy in its purest form in almost all levels of politics. Free and fair elections are the basic right of the citizens living in a democracy, and it should be made available and enjoyed by everyone, as their basic right, for the sustainenance and betterment of humanity.
